MANDATE OF LOCAL AUTHORITIES IN NAMIBIA
Eenhana Town Council, just like other Local Authorities in Namibia is established by the Act of Parliament, Act 23 of 1992. Local Authorities are a 3rd tier of Government, responsible for service delivery in urban areas. The Governing body of a Local Authority is a Council, which is consisted of elected office bearers
Some of the responsibilities of the Local Authorities are as follows:
- Water provision
- Sewerage and drainage
- Electricity provision
- Roads and road infrastructure development
- Parks, Cemeteries and public places
- Housing schemes
- Public amenities
- Economic planning and development
- Environment management and protection
- Waste Management
- Disease prevention and vector control
- Finance planning and management
